Scandic Hotels - AddedProtean FundsSeptember 2026
“Scandic Hotels is trading at roughly the same level as 15 months ago, when it announced its intention to acquire the operations of Dalata Hotel Group. The deal was complex in many ways: it involved Scandic expanding into new geographies and assuming a fair amount of debt. However, several positives have emerged since. The operational performance of Dalata appears to have been strong. While full details won't be known until the deal closes, Scandic has assumed operations of the hotels and reported that income as a line in its P&L. A strong influx of tourists to the Nordics during the summer, labelled by some as "coolcation", has resulted in strong growth in revenue per room during Q3, which isn't fully reflected in estimates yet. Based on this, we have added Scandic to the portfolio.”
