  “A different pair of single-name stories closed out the books volatile quarter, one driven by policy reversals, the other via death by a thousand cuts, and both, in their own way, a preview of the argument we will make in closing out this letter. Chemring’s H1 results on June 2 showed revenue up 6.5-7% to £237.3 million and a record £1.40 billion order book, but underlying operating profit fell 7.5-8% to £24.5 million on a £6.7-8.3 million impairment tied to declining US Department of Defense demand for its Alloy Surfaces decoy flairs; the shares fell 5-7% on the print and the company paused its buyback with only £8.7 million of a planned £40 million completed. That reversed entirely on June 25, when the US Department of War awarded the Alloy Surfaces subsidiary $345 million in new contracts, moving the unit back from discontinued to continuing operations. A single procurement decision erasing and then recreating a product line inside of three weeks. Enovix fell in three separate steps through June: 12.9% on June 7 when an outside investor exited its position citing the departure of a manufacturing-process lead ahead of a product launch, a further 9.2% on June 10 as investors read a soft Q2 revenue guide as limited visibility into its smartphone-battery qualification with Honor, and 10.2% on June 23 in a broad Nasdaq semiconductor selloff; the company's own Q1 disclosure had already flagged that Honor's qualification process was taking longer than anticipated.”
